v.1
Looking back on a time and a place in the past
Where everyone knew my name.
I can still watch it all on replay
Because the memories remain
Summer days in the sun, skiing the lake
And a late night kegger at Tom’s
To live one more day as those carefree kids
When we still had our dad’s and our mom’s
Chorus:
Our quarterback’s a detective
And the fullback hauls the mail.
One half back’s a southern Baptist preacher
And the other one guards the jail.
Living our best lives now, but for just one day
I’m thinking that we’d all go back
Make a wish, and break that huddle
Just to watch that wishbone crack.
V2.
Hopes and dreams of the kids that we were
And the failures we reluctantly carry
Thanking God now for unanswered prayers of the past
And the cheerleaders we didn’t marry.
One at bat or a carry, a catch, or a shot
Or the ride home on the bus
Didn’t win them all, but we played them together
And that’s how I always remember us
Chorus:
Our quarterback’s a detective
And the fullback hauls the mail.
One half back’s a southern Baptist preacher
And the other one guards the jail.
Living our best lives now, but for just one day
I’m thinking that we’d all go back
Make a wish, and break that huddle
Just to watch that wishbone crack
