 Looking Back on 2020

V1. 

What a strange year. Masked up and divided

Six feet apart and maybe a bit misguided.

Sports are back with some success, 

but you can’t get a ticket.

Pumping in the crowd noise

Just to drown out the crickets

An election year with dueling media agendas

Binging Netflix shows while locked down in our haciendas

And Tiger King , he really got his bubble busted

And the whole country is still thinking

Crazy Carole Baskin killed her husband

Chorus:

The ‘Rona is some scary stuff,

But I don’t believe we’re doomed

So I’m drinking quarantinis

At happy hour on the Zoom

Practice social distancing and sheltering in place.

On a quest for toilet paper 

With our masks hiding our face.

We’ll be telling stories to our grandkids 

And they’re gonna think it’s funny

When we’re looking back on life in 2020

If you’re deemed essential 

you’re out in it every day

But if you’re not, then in your home

Is where you’re supposed to stay.

School and businesses 

are now all worked from home

I miss human contact 

And It makes me feel alone.

Family holidays are sadly looking

More like just dinner for two

And that’s just not the kind of Christmas 

That I want for me and you.
