V1.

Out in the corner of my garage

Is a dusty box of time,

And memories of those sweet days

Are stored up in my mind.

It’s a box of blood and sweat and tears,

And the sparks the lit the flame

It’s hours and hours of practice

Kept from every single game.

Chorus:

There’s thousands of hours of batting practice

And a million down and outs.

There’s volleys, bumps, and sets and spikes

And the golf clubs that we wore out.

There’s free throws til you can’t miss

Man I coached a lot of games.

Countless hours spent with my kids

And I’d do it all the same.

V2.

The kids have all moved on in life

And the grandkids begin to come

They haven’t really figured it out,

But the training has begun.

There’s fun in all the lessons

And we’ve got nothing left but time.

And that dusty box in the corner

Still makes memories just fine.

Chorus:

There’s thousands of hours of batting practice

And a million down and outs.

There’s volleys, bumps and sets and spikes

And the golf clubs we wore out.

There’s free throws til you can’t miss

Man I coached a lot of games.

Countless hours spent with my kids

And I’d do it all the same!
